Coffee and Hot Chocolate, Yum!
My favorite part of the colder seasons? Drinking a nice cup of coffee or making a cup of hot chocolate to enjoy. I also enjoy getting to spend time with my family. I do tend to run a bit warm so finally being surrounded by cold air is so refreshing. There’s also nothing better than to snuggle in a whole bunch of blankets but not get too hot because it’s nice and cold outside. I’m sure we have all heard it before but everything tastes better when it is homemade. One of my go to recipes for hot chocolate, requires very few ingredients and is pretty simple to make.
Another thing I enjoy when it starts to get colder out is listen to festive music. Although, I do find myself sometimes listening to Christmas music year round. That’s normal right? A little Jingle Bell Rock never hurt anyone in the middle of June. I usually listen to festive music when making hot chocolate or baking as it adds to a great mood. Speaking of making hot chocolate, you get to add toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles etc.

Background Information
The image above is part of an assignment, Stay Home- Living is Dangerous. The purpose of the assignment is to create a graphic that conveys a certain theme or feeling. Then add text to it that contradicts the overall theme of the graphic. The theme of the graphic I tried to portray is feeling cold and finding comfort in hot drinks like coffee and hot chocolate. For the text, I thought to include something informative. Under no circumstance should you ever run with scissors and I think that is pretty much self explanatory. I grabbed images from Pexels and the png images from Freepik and Canva. I also used Canva to create the whole graphic. I found this assignment a bit challenging at first since I wasn’t sure how I wanted to spread everything out and I also didn’t want to rely on square images. I ended up using some of the shape options and corner rounding from Canva. I like the design I landed on and find it easy on the eyes.
For anyone who is viewing this I encourage you to try this assignment out and see what you can come up with. This could be a great starter visual assignment which can help you build on different graphic design skills and allow you to become more comfortable with digital media. It can also help you with digital storytelling which you can read more about in my reflection assignments tab. Add any of your creations down below!
