Vogue Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n

Recently I traveled to Maryland to go antique shopping with my mom and some of her friends. Her friends had mentioned this place in Frederick, Maryland that usually has decent stuff for a good price. My mom and I went antiquing<\/a> for the first time last year and since then have enjoyed visiting antique shops. I was quite excited to visit this new place and be able to look around and admire what was being shown. Our entire day was spent in the city of Frederick, there was a Spanish Heritage Festival going on, as well as a few farmers markets. We had a blast exploring the city of Frederick and were able to appreciate what the city had to offer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since we spent the majority of our day there, we ended up doing quite a bit of walking. Unbeknownst to me, my mom had taken a few pictures of me walking around the city. Later that evening she showed me the photographs she took and an idea struck my mind. The photos reminded me of a ‘Vogue Challenge’ trend that was pretty popular a while back. I had been aware of the trend but never actually took part in it. However, seeing the photos inspired me to participate for fun even if the popularity of the trend isn’t as big as it initially was. I know some people created their Vogue<\/a> covers using instagram but when I tried I could find the ‘Times New Roman’ font. I decided that Pixlr<\/a> was probably my best bet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found the original photo captured me far away so I knew I wanted to zoom in a little so I could be a bit more visible. However, I noticed that when zooming in the picture started to lose its clarity and the stone structure on the left was being cropped out. I decided to not zoom in too much for the sake of clarity. I also enjoyed having the stone structure visible in the picture as I feel it adds a bit of depth. I also thought the original was lacking in vibrancy so I used the photo settings on my phone and played around with the brightness and vibrance of the picture. Lastly, I thought the overhead powerline was too distracting so I removed it with the ‘Clean Up’ photo setting on my phone. After messing around with the photo I finally was happy with what it looked like and was ready to add the word ‘Vogue’ as well as a headline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The picture on the left is how my attempt at the ‘Vogue Challenge’ turned out. After editing the photo, all I did was go to Pixlr to add the text onto my image. I struggled a bit with what color and font I wanted the different headlines to be. I used the color dropper tool and choose a green hue that is in the background to add cohesion in my design. I also didn’t want to pick an abstract font since I wanted my main focus to be the word ‘Vogue’. I added an outline to the first headline and kept the second headline simple. If I were looking for activities to do in Frederick, Maryland I would purchase this magazine for ideas. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Overall, I enjoyed taking part in this trend (even if it has lost its spark) and strategizing typography and photo editing. I do like how my final product turned out and think the headlines give you a feel for what this magazine would be about. However, after giving my final product more thought, I wonder what I could do differently. I do enjoy the fact that the headline has color but I am not too sure that I picked the right colors. I could also align the text so that it is on the right side of the image. I might play around with the color of the font or maybe keep it simple and change the color to white. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
